Literature & IT Resources Projects

Author/Translator

One-off grants of $7,500 - $25,000 can make it possible to support an author or translator through the writing/translation process, cover editing, pre-press, and first edition printing and distribution of an important reference work in a local vernacular language, which can be read by up to millions of people.

Children’s Bible Ministries

Children’s Bible Ministries (CBM, NZ) are being translated and printed into Burmese. “So far I have finished the translation on lessons 1-24 of Year 2 and typed it all onto the computer; but I still need to edit. The remaining 3 curriculum guide books and lessons 25-32 are in progress. Hopefully all will be completed by October 2010.” Pa Hmet, MEGST, Yangon. More books need to be printed and we require $5,000 to achieve this.

Collection Development

One-off grants for collection development (books, online resources, DVD’s) at all LeaDev-Langham partner schools are needed annually in the $1,500 - $5,000 range.

ESOL Teaching Resources

One-off gifts of $1,250 - $7,500 to an ESOL programme at a partner school enables both ESOL teachers to be provided with the latest ESOL teaching resource books, and/or may also provide every student with essential reference books in simple English. For example India, Myanmar and Sri Lanka require these in 2010-2011.

IT Specialists and Librarians

In January 2011 it is planned for a team of three I.T specialists, plus two librarians to travel to Sri Lanka to install library software at up to nine Bible college/school sites which will link all colleges’ libraries together, such that all users can find/see all books held in all libraries. Total cost of this project (travel & accommodation, hardware, software, inc annual licence fee for 10 years): $147,000.

Langham Literature

Langham Literature supports Majority World seminaries and pastors through eleven book distribution and creative programmes by providing evangelical study books and by stimulating the creation of new Majority World titles. The logic is clear: pastors can’t preach if they don’t study, and they can’t study if they don’t have books! Books are the tools of the pastor’s trade, yet in most Majority World countries good study books are scarce and costly. For more information please go to www.langhampartnership.org/literature/

Library Development Book Projects

Two new library development book projects are now planned to provide a core graduate theological library collection in both Cambodia and Vietnam. Cost: $125,000 per project.

Titles

Where made possible by donor gifts, one or two books are selected to be given to every graduating student from a partner school. The cost begins at $2,500 per school per graduating class.

TNIV Study Bible

Where made possible by donor gifts, a TNIV Study Bible is given to every incoming student to a partner school. The cost begins at $2,500 per school per incoming class.
