Preaching Training Projects

Langham Preaching

In partnership with local churches and leaders, Langham Preaching seeks to build and sustain indigenous movements of biblical preaching in the countries of the majority world. There are three strategic objectives:

  • to train: conducting seminars on all aspects of an expository preaching ministry
  • to facilitate: working with national believers country by country to strengthen a movement for relevant Bible exposition, with support and continuity as the movement gathers momentum
  • to network: providing a forum for individuals, churches and agencies who share the conviction that a movement for Bible exposition is an essential part of the church’s mission worldwide
  • to pioneer: acting as a catalyst in those countries where the need is considerable but the resources are very limited

In New Zealand, Langham hosts the work of Paul Windsor who is the Associate Director (Langham Preaching) with responsibility for the work in Asia and the Pacific. Paul oversees the current work in Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, China, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. In addition to this, plans are at various stages of development to see the work commence in Nepal, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines. Langham Preaching is open to partnering with churches in any country.

Paul can be contacted through the LeaDev-Langham office in Auckland or through his blog which he updates regularly.

Kiwi-made Preaching

A related initiative of Langham Partnership New Zealand is ‘kiwimade preaching’, identified by the following interactive website: www.kiwimadepreaching.wordpress.com. Kiwi-made Preaching was born at a day-long forum held in Auckland in April 2009. The forum had a four-fold purpose:

  • to encourage preachers and biblical preaching in our NZ context
  • to probe the questions faced by preachers in NZ today
  • to gather the experienced and the emerging and let the synergy flow
  • to explore possibilities for an ongoing focus on Kiwi preaching

Langham Partnership NZ wants to contribute towards building a heritage of biblical preaching in Aotearoa-New Zealand. While open to the inspiration which comes from overseas, we want to wrestle with the place of preaching within this country. We want to struggle with the questions and not merely find the fast-track to simple and shallow answers. The site was commissioned by Langham Partnership NZ at the time that Paul Windsor was appointed to the international staff team of Langham and Paul works to keep the site active and helpful to preachers in New Zealand.
