Training Preachers

We support the equipping of preachers, teachers and church leaders to establish Biblically faithful yet culturally relevant preaching that will help new believers grow in their faith.

Through Langham Preaching, we partner with national leaders to nurture indigenous biblical preaching movements for pastors and lay preachers. With the support of an international team of trainers, we provide multi-level seminars focusing on practical, biblically based training. We follow up by training local preaching facilitators. The formation of local preachers’ groups and national and regional networks ensure continuity and ongoing development, seeking to build vigorous movements committed to Bible exposition.

As leaders learn to teach the Bible with authority and relevancy, God’s Word bears fruit that grows and multiplies, bringing transformation to individuals, families and communities. A leader trained to teach God’s Word helps hundreds of new believers eager to understand and apply God’s Word.  Our particular geographic focus is training preachers within Asia-Pacific, however internationally from July 2015 to June 2016, Langham Preaching:

• Held 231 pastor training events in 63 countries in need of solid biblical preaching.
• Equipped 10,300+ pastors and lay leaders to teach God’s Word.
• Shepherded 500+ preaching groups of 10-12 pastors and leaders meeting regularly for ongoing training and mentoring.
• Held 6 global or regional consultation or training events, involving 98 Indigenous Leaders and/or Coordinators from across the world to review, learn, train and plan.
• Emailed ‘Monthly Preaching Helps’ to 750 subscribers across the world, and 51 ‘Monthly Preaching Helps’ in Russian to that region of the globe.

A Kiwi contribution to the global church...

LeaDev-Langham makes an ongoing and substantial contribution to the strategic direction and content of the training of preachers through the ministry of New Zealander,
Paul Windsor, International Director of Langham Preaching. Paul and his wife Barby currently live in Bangalore, India, where he also teaches homiletics at the South Asia Institute of Advanced Christian Studies (SAIACS). Over the years, he has served as the Associate Director of Langham Preaching, the Principal of Carey Baptist College in Auckland, and on the LeaDev-Langham Board of Trustees.  Read Paul’s blogs and listen to sermons from his 2016 visit to New Zealand in the News Room.

Paul currently coordinates the international team of national and regional co-ordinators and trainers who facilitate Langham Preaching movements around the world. His goal is that ten years from now Langham Preaching will have started movements in a minimum of 100 countries (so another 37 new countries), where more than 1,000 local (indigenous) trainers foster organic, viral movements of more than 10,000 Langham trained preachers (and growing). He is clear that many more good preaching trainers are needed, and calls this vision for 1,000 trainers 1,000 “Slavko’s”, named for one East European trainer who’s calling, commitment and determination has inspired him.

Your gift to Langham Preaching will help to equip an emerging leader by providing training, mentorship and learning materials.

With your help a preacher or pastor in Asia-Pacific is equipped and in turn helps hundreds of new believers grow in their relationship with God.

We invite you to make a donation to Langham Preaching today.

Shallow Dive
– A Very Brief Introduction to Preaching

Shallow Dive is a seminar for local churches who want to introduce their lay leaders to the elements of biblical preaching. This seminar does not require any previous preaching experience, and is usually a minimum of two 1 ½ hour sessions. Topics are generally organised around: The Convictions Required to Preach Biblically, The Text, The Audience, The World (i.e. the Local/National Cultural Context), and The Preacher. Training sessions can be held over a couple of evenings, or part of a weekend, and are led by Tony Plews who used to teach Preaching at Laidlaw College prior to becoming Executive Director of LeaDev-Langham. If you would like to host Shallow Dive at your church, here's more info

KiwiMade Preaching - Deeper Training for Preachers

In 2009, we decided to replicate what Langham Partnership does well in the Majority World closer to home, and established KiwiMade Preaching to help build a heritage for biblical preaching here in Aotearoa-New Zealand. Find out more about the encouragement, exploration and growth that KiwiMade Preaching gives to both experienced and emerging preachers, participate in the preaching forum, and read their blogs.

“Having done the Level 1 Preaching training in 2014 I can say without a doubt this is simply the best training in New Zealand for those learning to preach for the first time, those starting out, and for those who have been preaching for a while.”
